I was working my way through a few lessons of Russian, and decided I really wanted to do something challenging. Of course my first thoughts turned to the Eastern languages. I choose Japanese because many of the games I play either have a large Japanese base or Chinese base. I know Chinese is incorporated into Japanese, at least some, so maybe after Japanese will be Chinese.
I'm already finding it semi-difficult. Romaji wasn't really all that difficult, it's more memorizing which letters they don't say. I decided the best route would actually be to find lesson plans for Japanese schools, which would have me learning what I should in each year of school...a way to narrow it down and make it seem a little less daunting of a task. So, while I'll be picking up some vocabulary I hope, I'm going to try and treat it as if this is supposed to be my native language...like I learned English, I'm going to treat Japanese the same way.
